Jay Cholewinski, Partner at TS Partners Ltd; Over the last 20 years, HMRC's Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credit scheme has awarded billions of pounds to companies that have spent time and money seeking advancements and overcoming unique scientific or technological uncertainties in their work.
Although the scope for identifying R&D is huge, many businesses miss out on funding because eligible activities aren't always obvious. The scheme isn't limited to scientists in white coats...R&D takes place in every sector and qualifying activities might even seem like everyday work! With such a generous scheme available, any business set up as a limited company should check if they qualify.
Just as were all preparing for life beyond the Furlough Scheme, we have been thrust into a second lockdown, the Job Support Scheme has been postponed, a new Furlough Scheme has been introduced, some businesses can open, some cannot, shielding is no longer a thing - but the clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) are told they should not attend work, and what about those who live with someone who is CEV or those who simply refuse to return?
Join us for a short and snappy update with employment law specialists from Wolferstans, James Twine and Victoria Sargeant, who will untangle the somewhat confusing and contradictory guidance around staffing your workplace during the second lockdown and beyond. Following the update, there will be a question and answer session during which you will have the opportunity to seek clarification on any of these issues.
