Thrive in Five workshop 4 - Innovation and Intellectual Property
Does organising your business finances scare you? Do you never have enough time to do everything? Is your marketing falling flat or too expensive?
Introducing Thrive in Five - a series of exclusives virtual events with bite sized sessions from our experts designed to help you grow and succeed, while connecting you with other members over brunch.
As part of the launch of our Small Business Toolkit these short and snappy Zoom events will give you five minutes of information and resources you need to be better at the factors that determine the success and failure of your business - followed by a Q&A session.
This bite sized events hosted on Zoom are designed to give you the tools you need to succeed in business - with the opportunity to get more in-depth advice from our experts.
For this session we will be joined by:
Richard Adams, Business Engagement Manager at Plymouth University, will be talking about how innovation can be undertaken in all aspects of your business, innovative ways of recruiting people, driving innovation into your sales strategy or innovative ways of negotiating with suppliers. These techniques are a result of a rapidly-changing local, national and global economy. Innovation becomes a method of operating that cuts across every aspect of your business to ensure you are a disruptor rather than the disrupted.
We will also be joined by James Love, Head of Intellectual Property at Womble Bond Dickinson, who have offices locally as well as across the country and in the USA. He will be talking about the legal means for protecting innovation through intellectual property (IP). This will include an explanation of the importance of IP to every business, and how it is often misunderstood and frequently ignored as a result of lack of knowledge and other priorities taking resources. He will outline the costs involved, and what questions a company should be asking itself in evaluating potential protection. This will then be followed by networking and an interactive Q&A session.
