Thrive in Five workshop 5 – Recruitment: Getting it right in (and out) of lockdown and Employment Law: “Ensuring you are a successful employer”.
One of the most important factors in running a successful business is having employees on whom you can depend and trust.
But where do you start? And is now the best time to recruit new staff – particularly as you’ll likely need to adapt your plans around the national lockdown?
Introducing Thrive in Five – a series of exclusives virtual events with bite-sized sessions from our experts designed to help you grow and succeed, while connecting you with other members over brunch.
As part of the launch of our Small Business Toolkit these short and snappy Zoom events will give you five minutes of information and resources you need to be better at the factors that determine the success and failure of your business – followed by a Q&A session.
For this session we will be joined by Sarah Knight, from Sarah West Recruitment Consultants. With more than 20 years’ experience in recruitment, Sarah is passionate about finding organisations the right people to bolster their teams. She will talk through how to get the basics right, including documents you need to have in place before starting the recruitment process.
Sarah will cover adapting your plans around lockdown – from interviewing through to onboarding – and how to attract the right people with the right skills, experience and values, before finishing with a few unmissable insider ‘top tips’.
We will also be joined by Rob Zacal, partner and head of team at GA Solicitors, who will help businesses take the right steps to “ensure you are a successful employer”.
Rob will discuss:
- What are your day 1 obligations?
- The importance of performance management and probationary periods.
- What are your options if the appointment does not work out?
Rob was named Young Lawyer of the Year for 2017 by The Plymouth Law Society and was praised in The Legal 500 2021 for his “Strategic, business-orientated advice and representation in contentious matters” in addition to defending clients in a number of employment tribunal claims.
Don't miss your opportunity and join us each week on a journey to success. Bring your own brunch.
