DESCRIPTION:The South West Mutual - what could a new regional bank do for business?\n\n\n\nFollowing the banking crisis of 2008 and subsequent banking reform\, work has been underway drawing on practice from Germany\, Switzerland and northern America - to establish a better banking offer for business and retail customers.\n\nThe Community Savings Bank Association was established in 2015 to apply international best practice and provide the necessary IT\, regulatory and operating infrastructure to create a network of 18 new regional banks across the UK. \n\nThe South West Mutual has recently been set up to seek investment and a banking licence. In addition to advocacy\, activities he has a key role in facilitating political dialogue and knowledge exchange of between institutions and stakeholders on issues such as private placement\, securitisation\, green finance\, infrastructure projects\, venture capital\, euro-clearing. He has doctorate from the University of W rzburg and a background at partner level in European commercial law. He is a solicitor at the Bar of Munich.\n\n\n\nMolly Scott Cato is a green economist and Green MEP for the South West of England and Gibraltar. She sits on three committees in the European Parliament: Economics and Monetary Affairs (ECON)\, the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee (AGRI) and has recently been selected to be part of the European Parliament's Special committee on financial crimes\, tax evasion and tax avoidance. \n\nMolly is Green Party speaker on economy and finance and spokesperson for EU relations. She has published widely\, particularly on issues related to green economics. She is formerly Professor of Strategy and Sustainability at the University of Roehampton. \n\n \n\nTony Greenham is Co-Founder of Southwest Mutual and RSA Director of Economics. He is a chartered accountant and former investment banker with experience working both in business and with social and environmental NGOs. Tony has written extensively on economic reform including 'People Powered Prosperity: Ultra-local approaches to making poorer places wealthier'\, 'Stakeholder Banks: the benefits of banking diversity' and the best-selling economics textbook\, 'Where Does Money Come From? A guide to the UK monetary and banking system.' He is Deputy Chairman of the Greater London Mutual and a Senior Fellow of the Finance Innovation Lab. Tony was born and raised in Dorset and lives with his family in Devon. He is an alumnus of Oxford University and the London School of Economics.
