About Us

As a charity, we provide accommodation in the form of our Hearts Together Hospital Hotel in Plymouth, for patients, carers, and relatives when receiving medical treatment or visiting a loved one in the hospital. We also offer a range of additional practical, financial, and emotional support services to help those dealing with complex challenges such as end-of-life care and emergency or life-changing illnesses.

As a small independent Plymouth charity we rely heavily on community support and fundraising to ensure that we can continue to provide accommodation and support to the many families that find themselves in need of a stay with us. Derriford Hospital alone serves a population of approx 2 million across the southwest peninsular, this inevitably means that many families are often faced with long journeys or substantial accommodation fees to receive treatment or care for a critically ill loved one, adding unnecessary stress at what is already a very difficult time. Each year between 7,500-10,000 patients, carers, and relatives stay with us, with over 150,000 families benefiting from our services since 2001.

Hearts Together is not just a place to stay, our team works hard to provide practical help and support to make what can be a very challenging time, that little bit easier, services such as food provisions, transport, on-site counseling, laundry, and self-catering facilities. Our aim is to take additional burdens away from our guests so that they can focus all of their time and energy on getting better themselves or caring for their loved one or baby in the hospital.
