Bob has been a permanent fixture at SH&P since 2000, bringing over 20 years of  experience in all areas of intellectual property. His expertise covers client IP acquisitions, ensuring clients' IP needs are met with robust protection.

Alongside this, he has passion for fostering innovative growth, particularly in supporting startups and being a part of their growth journeys through our intellectual property services.

Outside of work, Bob's commitment to making a difference shines through his charity efforts. He has organised various events, raising over £70,000 for Children's Hospice South West through charity cycles and rugby initiatives. 

Emma graduated with a law degree from Staffordshire University in 2017 and qualified as a trade mark attorney in 2020. She has previously been a primary school teacher, worked in hospitality and administrative roles, but it was working as an IP and trade mark paralegal that inspired and started her on the path to becoming a trade mark attorney.

Emma later joined SH&P in September 2023 and is a key member of our Trade Marks team. Her work involves advising businesses on brand strategy, working on a variety of contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters and providing trade mark portfolio management services, such as trade mark clearance searches, filing and prosecution. She has worked with a range of businesses from different industries, such as fashion, cybersecurity, cosmetics, IT, marine technology and food and drink. She provides IP mentoring to local innovation hubs and volunteers for CITMA’s free advice clinics.

Richard has over 25 years’ continuous experience in the patent profession, firstly in private practice, then in the patent department of Philips Electronics and most recently running his own practice, which has been merged with Stevens, Hewlett and Perkins. Richard works primarily in the fields of electronics and mechanical engineering, especially in software and systems, packaging, display, lighting, caravan, machinery and security technologies. Richard also handles a significant amount of design work, particularly UK registered and unregistered design rights.

Richard acts for clients of all sizes, including private inventors, small and medium sized companies and large multinationals, helping to protect their intellectual property in the United Kingdom and around the world. 

In his role as Trade Mark Attorney Robin delivers a very friendly and engaging approach to all of the clients he advises, making sure to take great interest in and fully understand the business of the client and to offer sensible and pragmatic advice, often going the “extra mile” along the way. Robin prides himself in providing clear, jargon-free advice to all clients and not least in response to new trade mark enquiries that the firm regularly receives.

In his day-to-day work Robin advises on and conducts UK and global trade mark filing programmes, trade mark clearance searches, handling contentious matters (including trade mark opposition and cancellation actions before the UK and European Intellectual Property Offices), conducting dispute negotiations between parties, drafting of settlement agreements and assignment documents, as well as handling domain name disputes.
