Devon Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Announces Retirement
Devon Chamber of Commerce today announced the impending retirement of its Chief Executive George Cowcher. Mr Cowcher will retire at the end of June after two and a half years in the high profile post. The Chamber is an accredited member of the British Chambers of Commerce and represents the business interests of organisations and businesses with over 40,000 employees in the county.
Mr Cowcher joined the Chamber two and a half years ago and has been instrumental in the growth and development of the accredited Devon Chamber of Commerce from its roots in the original Plymouth Chamber. By forging ground-breaking and important partnerships and affiliations with other Chambers and business organisations, Mr Cowcher has not only raised Devon Chamber’s profile on the regional and national stage but has contributed significantly to Devon having a stronger voice on the key issues and challenges its businesses face.
Chair of Devon Chamber of Commerce, Richard Stevens thanked George Cowcher for his hard work on behalf of the Chamber and the region in recent years and congratulated him on his successful achievements:
‘George enjoyed a long and successful career in a number of large Chambers before relocating to Devon. He has worked tirelessly in Plymouth and across the county of Devon to highlight the important role the Chamber plays in championing business interests and setting the agenda for debate on crucial issues that need to be tackled.
He has cared passionately about us all being able to do better business in Devon, whatever the size of business or industry. Along with my colleagues on the Chamber Board, I would like to offer George my sincere thanks for all his efforts and extend to him our very best wishes for a well deserved retirement.’
